UK Caravan parks are preparing themselves for what they hope will be a sizzling summer as holiday makers favour holidays at home instead of going abroad Caravan Park owners are experiencing higher than average bookings for their summer season and many attribute this to the credit crunch. It appears the cost of foreign travel has now made the british holidaymaker opt to remain in the UK to save their money. Sales of caravans had also increased. Dennis Smith, who owns Hillhead Caravan Park at Kintore, Aberdeenshire with 120 vehicle storage area said an increasing number of families were buying caravans and storing them on his site which has now a waiting list of up to a month which is a 30% rise in figures from last year. He said "I would say people have decided hat caravan holidays are cheaper and less stressful than going abroad, many of them want to try the freedom of caravaning"
He added that the credit crunch however has not prevented people from buying the largest caravans available rather than buy a cheaper second hand one and regularly upgrade. Aboyne Loch Caravan Park on Deeside said that young couples and groups of young people were choosing to camp and the warden reported that more people were choosing to book their caravans in for the whole season. In Burnside Caravan Park at Fochabers, the season has already started as high numbers of visitors look for somewhere to park their touring caravans. A spokesman said "It is just the cost of going abroad, people are getting fed up and are preparing to stay at home". He predicted that the number of foreign visitors would also rise.

"It is more favourable to them now with their exchange rate, for the last couple of years it was not cost effective for them but now it's equalised "This positive effect however is not being felt elsewhere in the industry; John Campbell who sells static caravans at Thurso said that sales had dropped dramatically since the start of the recession. "We don't have lots of sites up here for static caravans" he said, "We sell to people building houses who put the caravans on the site but we have hardly sold anything since December".

Overshadowed in recent years by cheap, package holidays abroad, caravan holidays in Scotland are once again becoming popular amongst holiday makers - and for good reason. Whether you're looking for a lively long weekend away with a group of friends, a week long family holiday or a quiet retreat for a romantic couple, a caravan holiday in Scotland is definitely the way go.
Caravans offer the most cost effective way of viewing the wonders of Scotland. Whether towing your own caravan and pitching on one of Scotland's many caravan parks, or hiring a beautiful static caravan, it's just like a home from home. With all your own home amenities, your own car parking space, green area around the caravan, you have the most important values - choice and freedom. Whether you want to cook a meal or eat out, go out or early and come back late, it's completely up to you. Furthermore, if you're using a touring caravan, you could have a different view of Scotland every morning. How does waking up at the shore of the world famous Loch Ness one morning sound, followed by looking out of your window and seeing the breathtaking views of Ailsa Craig another?
Often referenced as one of the most beautiful countries in the world, Scotland has always been renowned for its stunning, natural beauty. Its breathtaking views of the many Loch's and Glen's have been the back drop to years of photographs and it's famous whiskey has been warming chests since 1494.
Scotland's biggest city, Glasgow is famous for its stunning architecture, historical museums and without a doubt, its welcoming people. The endless shopping facilities and leisure amenities will keep even the most passionate shopper busy. Situated an hours drive from Glasgow is Edinburgh, the Scottish capital. One of the most beautiful cities in the world, Glasgow has a world famous castle and is renowned for its celebrations. The Edinburgh Tattoo in August is made up of several festivals and is visited from all over the world, whilst its Hogmanay celebration on New Years Eve is rivalled only by the celebrations in Time Square, New York.
Head North and you'll be taken into wilderness of the North-West Highlands, just south of the stunning Argyll. Move over to the North East and you'll be greeted with beautiful Perthshire (which in the summer plays host to the famous 'T in the Park' music festival), the high Grampians and lowland Aberdeenshire. The area is dominated my mountainous terrain and is perfect for those wishing to see the true beauty of the country on a caravan holidays in Scotland.
The South of Scotland is filled with rolling hills, lush, green forests and memorable old market towns. Local towns in Dumfries and Galloway are heavily steeped in history and tradition. Winding streets and pebbled lanes make southern Scotland a definite place to visit.
The Scottish tourist board has invested millions of pounds over recent years into Scottish tourism and in particular, its caravan parks, making now a better time than ever to take a caravan holiday in Scotland.

Well the credit crunch is here and we all need to cut back on life’s little luxuries. So Holidays are one of the areas where we can all cut back. For those of you who usually travel abroad you have two choices this year no holiday, or a cheap holiday in the UK.
Where can you have a reasonable cheap holiday in the UK? Of course it's staying in a static caravan on the beautiful Welsh coastline. I know many of you that have not been camping for years think that staying in a static caravan is only one step up from slumming it in some awful tent on a dingy camping site. You may have vivid memories of water standpipes, and outside toilets and shower blocks. But let me assure you that staying in a static caravan can be as luxurious as and much cheaper than a nice hotel. Furthermore, a caravan is like staying in a mini apartment which would be outside the affordability for most people when compared to renting a mini apartment in a hotel.
Many caravans now have double glazing and central heating. They all have running water, shower rooms, fully fitted kitchens and comfortable living rooms with TVs, sky dishes and even DVD players. Most caravans have either two or three bedrooms. If you were to rent a three bedroom apartment in a nice hotel it would cost a fortune for just for one week. But the cost of renting a static caravan for a week is very reasonable. So therefore let me assure you that staying in a static caravan is far from slumming it. Oh yes but it's all self catering I hear you say! Yes it is if you want it to be but most caravan holiday parks are now wonderful entertainment centers for the whole family. In fact you may never need to leave the caravan park for the entire stay of your holiday as everything you need for a complete holiday is on site. Children's fun clubs, swimming complexes, pubs clubs, restaurants and beautiful coastlines with many varied beaches and of course the sea. The really cool thing about all this is that you can enjoy all these activities without having to drive or even walk very far to get to them.

For me, one of the best things about staying in a static caravan is that many parks are right on the coast. There are not many reasonably priced hotels that are right next to the coast with beautiful sea views. I do not know of many hotels when you can walk outside your door and be on the beach in less than a minute, but there are numerous caravan parks where this is the case. One of the other things worth mentioning is that caravan parks are very child friendly with plenty of grass areas for children to run and play without fear of road traffic. Furthermore, all the other guests on site will be families as group single-sex bookings are not allowed. Therefore, there will never be groups of lager-louts or laddettes roaming the campsite getting drunk, being sick or making a noise well into the early hours of the morning when your children are trying to sleep. One more thing worth mentioning is that caravans are detached so to speak. Therefore you never have to keep extremely quiet as there are no guests in any room right next door to yours. I can remember many holidays when the children were teenagers sitting in the living room talking chatting watching TV into the early hours of the morning and not having to worry about keeping people awake in the next room.
So there you have it plenty of reasons why the credit crunch does not mean that you cannot have a good holiday. Many years ago when I was a child a caravan holiday by the seaside was a dream holiday. We all have such high expectations now of what we should have for a holiday. Many people think that unless they go abroad it's not really a holiday. Well I think that one good thing about the credit crunch is that it may bring us back to enjoying some of the more simple things in life. The best things in life are free and we have plenty of them. We are an island and we are surrounded by beautiful coastline which is free for all to visit. Just remember that half world is starving and we moan about not being able to afford to go abroad for a holiday.

In the summer, it is interesting to observe the many foreigners driving on the road heading towards the south of France, which counts as the most popular tourist spot. Nearly eighty percent of the cars are from abroad or from other provinces. Usually, they come from England, the Netherlands, Germany, and Italy. The French visitors are from big cities like Paris, Rennes, Lyon, and Lille.
Among the foreigners, the British people are the ones who are considered quite extravagant because they come in new cars in the latest models. In France, caravans are the way to go, but English locals simply view caravans as nuisances to driving, especially if their cars are following these caravans. That is because they cannot overtake the caravans. But, the Foreign Secretary is very keen on caravan trips and he has made these sorts of holidays so popular. As such, English people know how to respect caravan holidays, even though they are irate about caravans.
Meanwhile, the Dutch are the ones perceived to be the economical tourists. They come in caravans and prefer to stay in campsites and bring all of their belongings, which usually include food and bicycles for each member of the family. They bring bicycles so that they can avoid additional expenses.
Of all the foreign travelers, the Germans travel in the biggest motor caravans, the most modern of which have computerized panels. They also take their motorbikes and big tents with them, along with their pairs of shoes for hiking, biking, lounging, and dinner. Yes, you heard that right.
But when it comes to driving, the Italians are seen as the attention grabbers. One recognizes the Italians by their style of driving. Their caravans, sometimes, swerve right in the middle of the road and then suddenly jerk between two lanes. Italians drive in zigzags and then they warmly greet you with hands dancing in the air. Peculiar, huh?
As mentioned earlier, in France, caravans are one of the finest ways to travel around the country, because they give you the freedom to go wherever you want sans the confines of strict itineraries. They also allow you to save money from your accommodation bills. Fayence in Var is a good place to stop by when searching for beautiful caravans. It is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Fayence in Var resembles one of those villages you see on television or in period films, where filmmakers try to reconstruct France during the Middle Ages.

If you're planning to stay in a static caravan for your next holiday, you'll need to make sure you're prepared. Today's caravans are luxurious, comfortable and warm, and caravan parks occupy some of the best coastal locations in the country. Plan ahead, and you'll enjoy a fabulous holiday.
Fewer clothes than you think!
It's a well-recognised fact that we usually over-pack for our holidays, and this is especially true in the UK where, no matter what time of year we travel, we like to be prepared for a wide variety of weather. Static caravans boast much more storage than they used to, but if you want to make sure that there's a place for everything, then pack with caution. Most caravan parks have an on-site laundry, so you don't need to pack two outfits for each day - you can simply wash the clothes and use them again. This is particularly true for younger children, who are liable to be covered in sand or grass stains not long after breakfast!
Buckets and spades
If your caravan holiday is going to be near the beach, then be sure to take plenty of beach equipment with you. Good caravan parks are often right on the edge of the beach, which means you can take the kids down for an hour at the beginning or end of the day, or spend all day sunbathing. However you choose to use the beach, you'll need all the right equipment - and anything you can't fit in the car will probably be available at the on-site shop. Many static caravans also have an additional, outdoor storage space so that all those sandy things don't have to come inside.
A good book
![]()
A lot of people say that their annual holiday is the time when they catch up on their reading, and the best thing about a good book or a stack of magazines is that you can read them at any time. If the weather's sunny, take them down to the beach and relax on the sand, or sit outside your caravan so that the cold drinks are on tap. If you have a bad-weather day, then sit in the comfort of your caravan with a cup of tea and make the most of some enforced quiet time.
Of course, you'll need to take much more than these three items when you go on your caravan holiday, but put them at the top of your packing list!
There are a number of styles of caravan that you can choose from when you are looking for one of these as a holiday home. You can have the opportunity to select the number of bedrooms you will need as well as the amenities that your family may require. There is no need to rough it in one of these holiday caravans and you will have all the comforts of home while you are on holiday.
Holidays like this can save you some money as well. You will have the ability to cook for your family while you are away, and save the expense of eating out every night. For large families, it is an ideal way to take the whole clan on a trip without spending a great deal of money on the daily expenses that your family will have.
Take a tour of a caravan and discover the benefits of this type of holiday. Many families have already discovered how luxurious this type of living can be. While you are on holiday, you will have the chance to gather with other caravan owners and enjoy the benefits of being away from home while still maintaining your lifestyle. Best of all, you can relax in your holiday caravan just as though you were in your own home.

There are a number of parks where you will find holiday caravans in locations that have many great activities for your family as well as a number of styles to choose from in these caravan homes. You can select a rustic lodge style or you can go for a more contemporary look; the choice is yours and will largely depend on the type of holiday your family enjoys taking.

Owning your own holiday caravan will also mean that there is no guesswork about where you will be taking your family holiday or the increase in the price of lodging. Holiday home ownership will allow you to ensure that your family has a great holiday every year.

It is an investment in your family's future holiday travel as taking an annual holiday is something that your family looks forward to all year long. Every day you work hard to give your family the finer things in life so don't you deserve a holiday location that will help you to relax and have a good time? It is your reward for a year of hard work. Take the time to look at holiday caravans as a great option to owning your own holiday home. All of the luxury is included in these caravans and all you need to add is your family for the fun filled holiday of your dreams.
