Guide To Towing A Caravan In Europe By dave4 You should check with your insurer that your caravan is covered for any accidental damage or theft during the journies to and from your destination, while the caravan is aboard the ferry and when you arrive. Some insurers only cover the caravan for a limited period abroad each year so you will need to be careful not to exceed this limit without speaking to your Insurer first.
Some caravan sites may require a higher than normal limit of liability, which should be stated when you book.
Please check your policy carefully and contact your insurance company, well in advance of your departure, if you require
an extension to your policy.
Equipment
Each country will have its own requirements so you should check the local legislation before you travel. Some of the standard equipment requirements include a fire extinguisher, high visibility vest, hazard warning triangle, spare bulbs & fuses, tool kit, extending mirrors (Compulsory in Spain), first aid kit.
Speed Limits
Speed limits vary according to the country you are driving in, the combined weight of your caravan and car and the type of roads you are towing on. You will need to check the speed limits for your journey before you travel.
