A green celebration has produced a major fundraising boost for a charity always on red alert. The event was hosted in autumn by Holgates Caravan Park in Silverdale - and as a result, park owner Michael Holgate presented North West Air Ambulance with a cheque for the £6500 it had raised. The park was the scene in September for the 2008 Greenwood Fair, organised by Holgates in conjunction with the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With TV botanist David Bellamy as its guest of honour, the two-day fair brought together scores of countryside organisations and small businesses connected with the region's natural assets. They included local craftspeople whose livelihoods involve working with wood, from furniture and hurdles to charcoal, swill baskets, gypsy flowers and hobby horses. There were plenty of "have a go" opportunities for children and adults involving ancient skills and games.Professor Bellamy also led families on a wildlife walk around Holgates Caravan Park which has won a number of prestigious green accolades for its work in protecting the natural world.Heading the charity fundraising events at the fair was a Saturday evening ceilidh in a marquee on the park which was well attended by park guests and many people from the surrounding area. However, said Michael Holgate, it came as surprise to everyone when the actual amount raised for the North West Air Ambulance totalled a staggering £6500.Covering an area of some 5,500 square miles, including Cumbria and Lancashire, the medical air emergency service attends incidents in locations varying from motorways to mountain tops. But wherever the emergency is sited, the service's air ambulance and its volunteer crew reckon to be within a maximum of ten minutes' flying time from a hospital.Holgates' charity cheque was handed over to Emily Taylor, community fundraiser for North West Air Ambulance, at a special ceremony at the park recently.Thanking them for their "superb efforts and fantastic generosity", Ms Taylor said that the donation would make real difference to the ability of the service to carry out its life-saving work.

Setting up a caravan holiday park ?

hey,
Im a very aspirational person and would like too make it big one day icon smile Your Questions About Caravan Coffee
I have different projects here and there, wanting to work with members of the public, to satisfy them and to make them happy, I have come up with many things such as running coffee shops & restaurants. At this moment in time I am thinking of setting up a caravan park in years too come, my main concern is the price of setting it up? Shall I purchase one already in operation or should I start from scratch...? I am a perfectionist so i will aim to get the highest amount of stars that can be awarded...obviously I will start small and grow from then on...but how much approximately will it cost....from the land....to the caravans...to the heating/water/electric....?

Hi, I think your idea of a caravan park is good, especially considering we are more likely to holiday at home in the next few years, the rental potention alone could be enormous providing you find the right site and budget it correctly. Who knows you might create in years to come one of the finest holidays parks in the UK. The idea is right, its the products that wrong in my opinion. Why buy poor quality caravans, when a Mobile Home made out of solid log would be similiar in price but 5 x the quality. Mobile Homes are effectively caravans, they do not need planning permission and can built on a wheels or wooden skids. If you would like to investigate solid log mobile homes, please get in touch as we can help. Your guests will love living in LOG.

All the best.
Regards
A

Located midway between Sydney & Brisbane Port Macquarie is an ideal holiday destination. About 30 minutes from Port Macquarie is the tiny fishing town of North Haven. A few minutes up the road is the Jacaranda Caravan Park run by Neville & Yvonne Smith. Tim Smith host of Discover Downunder talks to the managers about the park. The park is registered for 126 sites & 18 cabins, the remainder of the park has 49 tourist sites & van sites. Jacaranda Park has a kids playground including a cubbyhouse & pool area. This park is fantastic for children. Tim Smith catches up with the original owners of the park Ader & her husband Clem designed the park from day one. They are very happy on how the park looks today. Tim also chats with holiday makers, they rate the park 10 out of 10 they love the park & and all it has to offer. Is there anywhere (or any company) in cornwall a group of 19-21 year old guys can have a weeks caravan holiday?

Me and a group of 7 others are looking to have a caravan holiday in Cornwall this summer. It looks like all the major companies have a policy where they do not allow over half the group to be under 25 or even all male.

Ruth asks…

Do you know a good caravan/holiday-lodge site in cornwall suitable for old people and dogs?

I want to take my 80 y/o mother in law away with us on holiday to cornwall this summer. Can you recommend one where there is tasteful entertainment, where they take dogs, and where an 80 y/o woman can get around fairly easily? I know its a tall order but it just might save me trawling through the whole of the web. cheers
